Meet the New Assistant Principal, Teachers at ICHS

We have six new teachers and a new administrator this year at Indian Creek High School. Take a minute to meet them!

Ms. Kenda Eley, Social Studies

What college did you go to, and what was you major?

I went to Indiana University Southeast majored in Secondary education minored in political science and geography.

Is this your first year teaching, and if so, how is it so far?

It is her first year teaching, and she loves the environment so far, as well as the students. Her only “complaint” is, is that there is only so much coffee in the world to keep her going.

Did you play sports in high school or college, if so what sports, and what is your favorite sport?

She played basketball, ran track and field, and cross-country in high school. In college she played volleyball. Her favorite sports to watch are basketball and volleyball.

Do you have any foods? What are they?

She likes ice-cream, and anything that involves peanut butter and Reese Cups.    

Do you have any pets? If not, what is your favorite animal?

She doesn’t have any pets, and but she does loves parakeets because they are crazy.

Mrs. Heather Graham, Spanish

What school did you graduate college from?

Grace College.

 How many different countries have you been to and what are they?

I’ve only been to two countries outside of the United States. The first one is Argentina, I went to Buenos Aires, for six months. The other one is Mexico, for one week.

If you could do one thing in the world before you’re older, what would it be?

I would travel more. And visit as many countries as I could.

If you only had one choice of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mexican, that’s so weird because I’m the Spanish teacher.

Decatur Middle School.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?

Big South Fork, Tennessee/Kentucky.

What is your favorite genre of music?


Why did you become a teacher?

I became a teacher to help people.   

Ms. Jessica Knight, English

From which college are you a graduate?

Butler University.

What is your favorite genre of music?

Christian Rock.

What is your favorite food?

Anything homemade.

If you weren’t a teacher what would your profession be?

Conservation officer.

What do you do with free time?

I coach volleyball and softball.

What made you decide to come to Indian Creek?

I’m a graduate. I graduated from here in 2005, and I love this place!

What made you want to become a teacher?

I’ve known since I was in high school that I was going to be teaching. I was pretty sure it was going to be music. It wasn’t for a while but that’s how it went.

 How has it been here so far?

It’s a dream come true! I love it!

How long have you been a choir teacher?

It’s my first year.

Are you looking forward to staying here a Indian Creek?

Where did you attend college?

Ball State.

Where else have you taught or been an administrator?

Franklin Middle School and Jackson Creek Middle School.

What are your favorite sport teams?

LSU and the Cubs.

Do you have children?

I have 2 step children and one son.

Marshall University, Marian University, and the University of Indianapolis

M & M’s.

Do you have any children?

I do not.

Do you have any pets?

I have lots of pets – two dogs, two cats, and two chickens

What is your favorite movie?

“Just Friends”.

Mrs. Rachel Wright, German

Where did you graduate high school?

Penn High School.

Where did you go to college?

Undergraduate – Purdue; Graduate – Kentucky.

What inspired you to become a teacher?

My junior year Social Studies teacher. I connected with her and I want to be able to connect with students like that.

Favorite Harry Potter movie?

I really can’t say! I guess depends on my mood. If I’m feeling happy I’ll watch the first one. But if I’m in a more serious mood, I prefer the “Half-Blood Prince.”

Where in Germany did you live?

I lived in a small village 25 minutes outside Frankfurt in Schoneck.

What’s your favorite candy?

I love all candy! If I had to choose I’d say Twix or Sour Patch Kids.
