Indian Creek Schools are proud to announce that, once again, we have been awarded the prestigious Indiana Purple Star School designation. This recognition celebrates our dedication to supporting service members, veterans and their families within our school community. The award, given by the Indiana Department of Education, reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive environment for military-connected students and honoring the sacrifices of those who serve.
To earn this designation, Indian Creek Schools met rigorous criteria that showcase our commitment to military families. Here’s what we accomplished:
Dedicated Point of Contact: We have an assigned point of contact for military families to ensure that each military-connected student has a support system within our school. This individual meets all required training standards at each grade level, providing critical resources and assistance.
Military Webpage: We maintain a dedicated webpage that provides recognition and resources specifically for military families. This page is accessible to students, parents, and community members, and it helps connect families to available support.
Annual Military Program: Indian Creek hosts an annual Veterans Day program, to honor and recognize our military service members. This program is a way for students, staff, and the community to come together in respect and appreciation for our veterans and service members.
Military Display: Our school proudly displays a public exhibit that honors military service members, ensuring that their contributions are recognized and appreciated by all who enter our facilities.
School Board Resolution: We have taken steps to publicly affirm our support for military families with a resolution passed by our school board, solidifying our commitment and showcasing our efforts to make our schools a welcoming environment for those who have served.
Priority Hiring for Veterans: We also ensure that qualified veterans and immediate family members of service members receive priority consideration for open positions at Indian Creek Schools by guaranteeing them an interview.
